Schedule and other happenings.

Seven Springs is about a week away. I've ridden the course a few times in last month or so and 95% of it is the same as it was last year. They added a bit of singletrack and took out a little quad trail here and there. While I do think the course is a little shorter mileage wise, the only reason someone should call it "faster" is because it's been so dry here for the last few weeks. There are spots on that course that ALWAYS have a few puddles, but were bone dry this weekend. Hopefully last night's rain did a little to calm down sme of the dust. We should do well in our quest to defend last year's win. Don was on vacation last week, but "vacation" to him was 250 road miles averaging over 20mph per ride in 6 days. I'm excited, let's do this right now. Maaaaaybe I'll be riding a new bike??

The last race of the Michaux Series hits on September 14th; The Terror of Teaberry. I'm very much looking forward to it. It CAN"T be more difficult than Dark Hollow, can it? Can it?

The Month of Mud starts Sept 21st at Bavington for the time trial. I'll miss the Brady's Run race as I'll be away in London. Those of you racing, please think of me during that climb as I'll probably be on the Eurostar going to Paris via the Channel Tunnel. I'll be back for the 'cross race, but whether I decide to do it is another story. Moraine is a definite possibility though.

Iron Cross??

No news is good news.

If you do have news though, does that make it even better? I'm going to go with it. Six hours of Power went well. After the run and getting on the bike I was sitting around 30ish of 80ish. The first mile is a fireroad climb up the slopes of Holiday Valley. I stomped my way up it on the single speed passing at fair share and being passed by no one. The extra fast guys are also extra fast on the run; who knew? The conditions were pretty abysmal from the previous nights rain and hail. It's still a level playing field though, everyone has to deal with it. I rolled into the transition tent nine and a half miles later and in the top ten with a time of 55:58. This would be the second fasted single speed lap of the day behind Ryan Gotch. (yaay) Jeremy was no where to be found. Ha. We traded off and on a few times, each of us dealing with the declining conditions. I ended up not eating enough before my third lap and found myself dreaming of cheeseburgers halfway through. That's when I know I'm in trouble.

Next on the agenda is the Wild 100 at Elk River in WV. Chrissy and I are teaming up for the self guided, six checkpoint, "find your way there in order; we'll provide the map", slaughter of 62 miles (100k) of Snowshoe back country. TJ and Travis won male duo last year and I fully expect them to do well this time around...as well.

Seven Springs 24 is coming up at the end of the month. Can't wait.

Michaux.

Oh yeah, I ride for Trek of Pittsburgh now. Get into it.
